Because I missed posting yesterday (sorry!)
Last night, Han & I went to see the Junior Theatre production of “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.” DK is in the play. She plays a townsperson, a cook, and an Oompa Loompa (sort of, she’s one of the heads that pokes through a hole in the wall).
The sets that these productions create are completely spectacular. I am constantly impressed! DK was great. She has a great presence on stage, even in these minor roles. I enjoyed the show very much. These kids can sing! The costumes are great. It’s always a wonderful show. My one critique was with the story. They tried to infuse some modernity into it, which made the time that the story was supposed to be in very clunky. In one scene, they said, “We interrupt the Little Orphan Annie hour to announce another golden ticket was found.” Then, when we meet Mike TeeVee, he’s got an iPhone and is singing about downloading things from the internet. It was a little odd and I didn’t care for their updates. But even with that, the show is great!
After the show, we gave a ride to DK and her friend (who was in the crew) back to DK’s mom’s house via a stop at Roberto’s. It was a fun night out!
