breakfast fail, almost movie fail, and what time is it again?

Last night I thought I would go to bed early like I did on Friday, but I ended up staying up ’til about midnight knowing I got that extra hour. Well, I woke up at 5:15 am 😦 but I was able to go back to sleep for another hour or so.

I like to go out to breakfast. And I tend to like to go early. On Saturdays, I almost always go to the little French cafe which is great. On Sundays, it’s not open anymore and neither is my 2nd favorite place, a little cafe called Bondar’s. So this morning, I had decided to go to a place I haven’t been to in a long while. Yet another little cafe called Bean Bar that is literally around the corner. I got a little later start than I meant to, especially considering how early I got up. Anyway, long line at Bean Bar and they didn’t have a food menu visible, so I decided to walk a bit and try another place. Well, I don’t know if the time change got everyone up early and hungry, but every place I thought of to go to had lines out the door, Copa Vida, Lucky’s, a new Italian cafe (line wasn’t out the door, but only had one guy working who was super slow), Spill the Beans, Breakfast Republic. So I ended up at the place I was at last week, Coffee & Tea Collective and they were already sold out of toast! I ended up getting an iced mocha to go and a chocolate croissant that was really more like a chocolate popover. Not my best breakfast outing.

So I decided to go to an early movie in Hillcrest to see “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” This one had been on my radar, and I’m so glad I saw it. It’s BOATS (based on a true story) and stars Melissa McCarthy. It’s a serious role. I loved it. She is Lee Israel, a writer who is down on her luck and she comes up with a plan to change her fate. I won’t reveal anything else, but McCarthy is awesome in it, and the story is so interesting. The reason it was almost a fail is that after the previews, an entirely different movie started playing. Several patrons, including me, got up to let the theater folks know. They were able to fix it, but we had to sit through the previews (many of them the same) again. But it all worked out.

After the movie, I came home and did laundry, cleaned, and kicked back. Last night, I finished “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” and today I finished season 1 of “The Good Place.” And of course, it started to get dark around 4:30 pm which just throws everybody off. After making food to take for a couple lunches this week, I walked over to Lolita’s and got a salad with grilled shrimp for dinner. After I finished that, I decided I wanted some ice cream, so I took a short walk around downtown and ended up at CVS to get a small pint of peanut butter & chocolate Haagen Dazs and went back home. When I got home, it was 6:30 pm. Ugghh! I read something today that said to try to get used to the time change to go to bed an hour earlier than usual which would be mean 9 pm for me which is in 15 minutes. It may happen, but I’m not sure.

But once I hit ‘publish’ on this bad boy, I will have again completed my to-do list for the day. Yay me!
